You have feasted well. Your mind now holds a rich store of French—you comprehend abundantly, you recognize the patterns and rhythms of the language. The time has come for the natural next step: to give voice to what you know.
This is not a class of artificial drills or forced performance. Rather, it is a gathering of minds ready to engage with ideas worth discussing—French culture, traditions, habits, and the living thoughts that connect us to the French-speaking world.
The Flow of Each Session
Like a well-appointed meal, each gathering follows a natural progression:
- Warm Relations — We begin with personal questions and friendly exchange, warming our speaking abilities as one might warm to a good conversation among friends. Here, your voice finds its comfort and ease.
- The Living Idea — Each week brings a new cultural topic: a French or francophone tradition, a habit of daily life, a window into the French soul. We encounter this idea through rich materials—a thought-provoking text, a short film, a striking image, or a song that captures something true. We comprehend together, and then we discuss. Real ideas call forth real responses.
- Your Own Expression — Through free writing, you gather your thoughts and opinions, sharpening your ability to communicate what your mind has formed. This is not recitation; this is you, thinking in French, speaking your own truth.
A Place Where Your Voice Matters
This class honors the learner as a person—a thinking, responding individual with ideas worth hearing. We create a supportive atmosphere where:
- Speaking regularly is natural, not forced
- Mistakes are recognized as part of the honest work of learning
- Your thoughts are welcomed and valued
- Confidence grows through genuine exchange, not artificial praise
You are moving past the “intermediate plateau”—that place where comprehension is strong but expression still hesitates. Here, in consistent practice with worthy content, you will develop the flow that turns careful learners into confident speakers who think in French.
