Spring 2025 Beginner Italian Online Tuesdays, April 15-June 10 2025
The Italian class for “beginner” learners is one hour packed with comprehensible and compelling Italian. The curriculum is focussed on the most frequently used words in Italian– the words used in everyday conversation. Through comprehensible classes with lots of repetition your brain is set up to acquire Italian without even trying!
The term “beginner” is in quotes because many people who have studied Italian in a conventional setting for years can benefit from the class. As long as you still struggle in basic conversation, this is a good class for you.
Your Instructor
Marianna has taught a wide range of students for the past fifteen years, from elementary to adult. A native speaker of Italian, she grew up spending her summers in Napoli, forging a connection with friends and family overseas from her home state of Maryland. She holds a double M.A. in French and Spanish from George Mason University and currently teaches middle and upper school language classes at an independent school in Manhattan. In an effort to maintain a high proficiency level in French and Spanish, Marianna has traveled, studied, or volunteered in France, Canada, Spain, Peru, and the Galápagos. She earned the Pulsera Project fellowship in 2019, spending her summer in Guatemala. A true believer in comprehensible input strategies, she has attended numerous workshops and trainings, and recently implemented a reading program for her middle school classes. While she loves using a variety of strategies in her teaching, she believes that connecting with her students is the best way to create engaging lessons and get them towards proficiency. Fun fact: She’s traveled to more than 30 countries!
